Merseyside School Games 2017

The sun came out for the Merseyside School Games 2017, which took place at Wavertree Sports Park on Thursday 6th July.

The annual celebration of Sport and Physical Activity saw over 1000 children from hundreds of schools across Merseyside compete in a range of sporting finals to find out who would be crowned Champions of Merseyside!

The Games are the culmination of a year-long programme of exciting inter school competition delivered by the School Games Organisers, each school present had won their own borough competition to progress the grand stage of the Merseyside School Games Finals.

Knowsley were well represented in all seven of the sports, including boccia, swimming, golf, athletics, hockey, tennis and rugby.

Knowsley excelled particularly in the SEND events, with Altbridge claiming gold in the Secondary SEND Quadkids Athletics, and Knowsley Central also taking the top prize in the Secondary Boccia!

Knowsley Central also took well earnt bronze medals in the Primary Boccia, whilst Northwood Primary had their excellent sportsmanship acknowledged with the Spirit of the Games Award, a trophy that is given to the school that most embodies the School Games Values of Respect, Dedication, Passion, Self Belief, Teamwork and Honesty.

St Laurences also claimed a respectable third place in the Tri Golf event against some tough opposition.
