Exciting Times for Knowsley School Sport Competition!

The Yr 10/11 Netball saw Halewood eventually emerge as champions after an exciting tournament in February, whilst March was filled with a range of competitions. Holy Family Cronton, Whiston Willis and St Peter and St Paul won the Yr 3, 2 and 1 EFC and KSSP Football Tournaments with St Laurences battling through as winners in the Girls Yr 5/6 Competition.

After some closely fought games Ravenscroft eventually took the title in the Yr 5/6 High 5 Netball whilst hundreds of children and young people competed in the Primary and Secondary Cross Country events.

Due to the extreme weather experienced in March unfortunately the Merseyside Winter School Games had to be cancelled, all events have now been rearranged with KSSP’s representatives in Yr 7 Netball (All Saints), Yr 3/4 Gymnastics (St Lukes) and Yr 5/6 Girls Football going on to compete against the best of Merseyside.

April saw Plantation win through in the Mixed Kwik Cricket with St Laurences taking victory in the Girls Kwik Cricket at Whitefield Cricket Club, whilst the Halewood and Kirkby Swimming Galas saw children from both areas earn their place in the Finals in June. Children from Huyton and Prescot will look to join them in the Finals when they compete in their gala in May. After a great competition at Liverpool St Helens Rugby Club St Margaret Marys defeated the opposition to take their place at the Merseyside round of the Tag 2 Twickenham national competition.

The start of May saw each of KSSP’s Yr 6 Boys Football Leagues come to an exciting conclusion as the 10 best teams from the five leagues across the boroughs descended on Kirkby Sports College for an action packed afternoon in the sunshine to crown a champion. After some extremely close group games Plantation and Holy Family Halewood eventually emerged as finalists. Only a last minute penalty could seperate the teams as Plantation took the honours as KSSP Yr 6 Boys Champions 2013!

As the great weather continued Park Brow took the honours as champions of the Mini Red Tennis and will go on to battle the best of Merseyside at the Summer School Games 2013.
