Merseyside School Games 2013
Young people from Knowsley will join over 2,000 participants taking part in the Summer Festival of the Merseyside School Games at Wavertree Sports Park on Friday 5th July 2013. The young people will be joined by Sporting Champion Chris McDermott.
Chris made history at the London 2012 Olympics as a member of the first Team GB handball squad. He was also part of GB Handballs first competitive win vs. Bulgaria.
The Merseyside School Games will involve young people from age 7 to 15 from schools throughout the six boroughs of Merseyside: Halton, Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton, St. Helens and Wirral. Competitive Sports taking place are: Athletics, Basketball, Boccia, Netball, Rounders, Rugby, Swimming, Tennis and Golf.
Sainsbury’s School Games is a unique opportunity to motivate and inspire millions of young people across the country to take part in more competitive school sport. The Games are made up of four levels of activity: starting with competition in schools (intra-competitions), between schools within a local borough (inter-competitions) and then progressing to Merseyside County Finals in both winter and summer sports. The fourth level is a high level national demonstration of school sport delivered by National Governing Bodies of Sport, for those on the talent pathways.The following schools will represent Knowsley
