Malvern Primary School Wins Competition for the Most Engagement with the National Biggest Ever Football Day!

This nationwide initiative aimed to increase the visibility and engagement of young people with football. Malvern Primary School’s enthusiastic participation and creative approach to incorporating football into the school curriculum set them apart!

Their efforts ranged from football-inspired lessons to innovative lunchtime activities, culminating in a strong focus on leadership and careers in football.

Malvern Primary School went above and beyond by weaving football into various subject areas. Teachers collaborated to design football-inspired lessons that connected the excitement of the sport with the core curriculum, during lunchtime, the school created a competitive but fun environment by hosting football competitions for different year groups.

Malvern Primary School adopted a holistic approach by combining both theory and practical aspects of football. Students took part in theory-based competitions, which tested their knowledge of the game’s rules, history, and strategies.

One of the most engaging aspects of Malvern Primary’s participation was the opportunity for students to interact with former professional footballer Natasha Dowey and referee Emily Carney in a special webinar Q&A. During the session, the pair shared insights into their careers and answered students’ questions about the world of football. This live interaction was a unique experience for the students, inspiring many to consider football not just as a game, but as a potential career path. They discussed the importance of resilience, teamwork, and discipline in their professional journeys, leaving a lasting impression on the young audience.

A select group of Malvern Primary students had the exciting opportunity to attend a special training session at Melwood Training Ground, home of Liverpool FC. Here, students learned about sports leadership and gained insights into how elite football players train. The experience was designed to inspire the next generation of football leaders. The students who participated in this training session were able to return to the school and pass on their new skills and knowledge to their peers, enhancing the school’s football culture.

Malvern Primary students also met Natasha Dowey and Mighty Red, the Liverpool FC mascot.
