The Sportshall Athletics 2015-16 season is underway!

Schools from all over Knowsley are battling it out to earn a place at the KSSP Sportshall Athletics Finals in January 2016, with the overall winner going on to represent KSSP at the Merseyside Winter School Games.

Five cluster competitions are taking place at Kirkby High School, Halewood Academy, Knowsley Park, St Edmund Arrowsmith and Lord Derby Academy, with the winner and runner up from each event claiming a spot in the finals.

The first event at Halewood Academy saw Halewood CE emerge victorious from a tight competition, with Plantation just edging ahead of St Marks in the final few races to claim the runner up spot.

St Laurences continued their dominance in Kirkby with an incredible fifth succesive year as the Kirkby Cluster champions, although it was a much closer competition than previous years, with a strong performance from Ravenscroft earning them second place.

An impressive performance from Cronton CE in the Knowsley Park competition saw them take first place with a record points score, whilst Whiston Willis edged ahead of St Leos to claim the runner up place and their first appearance in the finals.

Four spots remain with the St Edmund Arrowsmith and Lord Derby Academy competitions still to come, make sure to follow us on Twitter for all the latest results!
