Mark Burgan was a soldier from Kirkby who was sadly killed in Afghanistan in 2011, his loss hit the family and his community hard, and he will be sadly missed. Mark loved sports and in particular football, his family and KSSP are delighted to announce the seventh annual football tournament in his honour, where our primary schools can come together, have some fun, and remember a true gentleman!
“It will be nice to see pupils playing football and enjoying themselves, and doing it all for my brother. I would like to wish all the teams good luck in the Mark Burgan Challenge Cup” – Laura Burgan, Mark’s sister and Teaching Assistant at Kirby CE Primary School.
